Ep. 56 – STAS – Identity Crisis

The Good Brothers return to Metropolis and Superman: The Animated Series to kick off the month of June, with the episode “Identity Crisis” featuring the debut of classic Superman rogue, Bizarro. Cal and Liam discuss an unnecessary redemption arc, Clancy Brown’s Lexposition, the polluted waters of Metropolis, whether Bizarro’s suit is apart of his skin and Tim Daly’s best villain foil being himself. Ep. 54 – BTAS – Mad As A Hatter

Continuing their stay in Gotham City, the Good Brothers review another episode of Batman: The Animated Series. This week’s episode, aptly titled “Mad As A Hatter”, introduces the Mad Hatter to the DCAU. The guys discuss the awkward real-world present-day societal implications of the obsessive Jervis Tech, a missed opportunity for some whimsical character designs, the excellent voice work from the late Roddy McDowall and how this episode might have fared better as a horror-esque episode. Plus the guys give their usual scorecard for the entire episode!

Ep. 53 – BTAS – Appointment In Crime Alley

The Good Brothers continue in Batman: The Animated Series with this week’s episode entitled “Appointment In Crime Alley”, an episode that again moves outside the norm for themes of a Saturday morning cartoon. Gentrification and classism are the main focus of this week’s theme and the brothers discuss the relevancy of the plot even in today’s day and age. Further topics include the consistency of the animation, a Batmobile-heavy story and a layered Batman arc, the portrayal of Leslie Thompkins vs. her portrayal in Gotham, a surprisingly strong soundtrack and of course a full scorecard on this week’s DCAU Review!

Ep. 52 – BTAS – The Clock King

Episode 52 of the DCAU Review has the Good Brothers returning to where it all started with a return to Batman: The Animated Series. This week’s episode entitled ‘The Clock King” puts the brothers at odds on the soundtrack but agreeing on the good-natured fun of the episode as a whole. They also discuss the rare all-daylight episode, some 1950’s inspired plot points and an Easter Egg featuring a classic Batman artist.
