Ep. 77 – STAS – Heavy Metal

The month of October is nearly over and with that, it’s almost time for the Good Brothers to turn over a new leaf and change DCAU shows. However, our hosts have one last episode of Superman: The Animated Series in 2019 and it’s a fun one. This week’s episode entitled “Heavy Metal” is the direct sequel to the very first episode the boys covered this month. This week’s discussion includes a favorable plot for introducing someone capable of aiding Superman against Metallo, some memories of the introduction of the Steel character, a soundtrack with similar tones to one of the hosts’ favorites, the question of how a metal helmet can show expression and a preview for the show being covered in the month of November. All of this, plus Liam broadcasts from inside the Steel suit and Cal acts as if it’s completely normal…on today’s episode of the DCAU Review!

Ep. 76 – STAS – Fun and Games

 

The Good Brothers continue their stay in Metropolis with October’s penultimate review of Superman: The Animated Series. This week’s episode entitled “Fun and Games” features the series debut of Toyman and Cal & Liam discuss his DCAU interpretation compared to the Super Friends and DC Comics continuity versions. They also talk about the outstanding visual gags in this episode including deadly Play-Doh, knockout-gas filled bubbles and the giant robot rubber ducky! The hosts also talk Bud Court’s creepy/sinister performance as the main antagonist and offer a preview of next week’s episode review.

Ep. 70 – Batman Beyond – Batman Beyond: Return Of The Joker

Ep. 60 – STAS – Legacy Part I & II

Cal & Liam conclude the month of June with their 60th episode, which just so happens to be one the most impactful and terrifically told stories in the entire run of Superman: The Animated Series. This week’s episode entitled “Legacy”, has ripple effects that would be felt in the DCAU for years to come. With that in mind,  the Good Brothers have a plethora of items to discuss this week. Ep. 53 – BTAS – Appointment In Crime Alley

The Good Brothers continue in Batman: The Animated Series with this week’s episode entitled “Appointment In Crime Alley”, an episode that again moves outside the norm for themes of a Saturday morning cartoon. Gentrification and classism are the main focus of this week’s theme and the brothers discuss the relevancy of the plot even in today’s day and age. Further topics include the consistency of the animation, a Batmobile-heavy story and a layered Batman arc, the portrayal of Leslie Thompkins vs. her portrayal in Gotham, a surprisingly strong soundtrack and of course a full scorecard on this week’s DCAU Review!
